The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area – Traditional Chinese Medicine Bay Area Conference took place in Zhuhai with the theme of "Innovate Integrate Develop Share"

With the theme of "Innovate Integrate Develop Share", the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area – Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Bay Area Conference took place in Zhuhai on 2nd May, 2019, hosted by China Association of Chinese Medicine, co-organized by Guangdong Provincial Association of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association and International Society for Chinese Medicine (Macau), and organized by TDMall (Group) Limited under the support of the Bureau of the Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guangdong Province, Zhuhai Municipal Government and Innovation Centre of Chinese Medical Sciences for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Nearly 100 guests from relevant Central ministries, departments from the Governments of Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macao, officials from the field of Chinese Medicine, experts and scholars, entrepreneurs, etc., gathered together hand-in-hand representing the three places to brainstorm and map plans for pushing forward the building of the "TCM Bay Area", fostering the integration and development of the Greater Bay Area, aiming to satisfy the needs of the Bay Area people towards health and eventually accelerating the achievement of the healthy "Chinese Dream".

Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (Liaison Office) in Hong Kong, Mr Yang Jian; Deputy Director of the Liaison Office in Macau, Mr Yao Jian; Chairman of China Association of Chinese Medicine, Mr Wang Guoqiang; National TCM Great Master, Mr Zhou Daihan; Member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), Mr Tam Yiu Chung; Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Mr Wu Ting Yuk; Head of the Department of Exchange and Cooperation of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Wu Wei; Mayor of Zhuhai Municipal Government, Mr Yi Sheng; Director of the Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guangdong Province, Mr Xu Qingfeng; and Chairman of Tianda Group Limited, Mr Fang Wenquan, attended the conference. During the conference, Chairman of China Association of Chinese Medicine, Mr Wang Guoqiang, Chairman of China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mr Fang Shuting and Director of the Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guangdong Province, Mr Xu Qingfeng delivered keynote speeches. 

Guests indicated that the "Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" promulgated in February laid stress on "keeping close medical cooperation, deepening collaboration among the field of TCM"

It has been generally agreed by the attending guests that, TCM is a rarity of the Chinese Nation, the key to the treasure house of the Cathay Civilization, and more importantly an immense contribution to the propagation and prosperity of the Chinese Nation. In recent years, the Communist Party and the country paid utmost attention on the development of TCM Industry. President Xi Jinping has also repeatedly indicated that we have come to the stage for TCM to make vigorous advancement with the advantage of a favourable time, place and social condition; TCM being such a priceless legacy left by our ancestors is something we ought to make good use of, develop and carry forward in order to compile a new chapter for the great journey of building a healthy China and achieving the "Chinese Dream". All these have stated clearly that developing TCM has ascended to the new age national strategic level.

Mr Li Xi, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee, emphasized during his investigation and research work on TCM in April that we have to learn and implement thoroughly the essential expounding notion made by President Xi Jinping towards TCM development. Apart from making a tight grasp on the importance of developing TCM in the new age and accelerate the building of a strong TCM province, we should also steer the way of creative transformation and innovative advancement of TCM, striving for the prosperous development of the new age TCM in Guangdong Province.

It has been highlighted by guests at the conference that, the "Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" promulgated in February laid stress on "keeping close medical cooperation, deepening collaboration among the field of TCM", which has acted as a historical juncture and offered enormous motivation for the three places to make use of their leading-edge in developing TCM, demonstrating strong collaboration with collective and complementary advantages, excavating the essence out of the TCM treasure house, fulfilling the accomplishment of creative transformation and innovative advancement of TCM and health preserving culture, in the end carrying TCM forward to the world.

Under the support and direction of the government, the TCM profession in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao should grasp the opportunities and new ideas to collaborate well in order to break all barriers, preparing the blueprint together and successfully bringing the innovation and integration of TCM industry as well as the Greater Bay Area to a brand new stage of development.

A consensus has been made at the conference towards the "Three places joining hands to build the 'Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area – TCM Bay Area' Initiative" which was jointly proposed by Tianda Chinese Medicine Limited, Tianda Chinese Medicine Institute and TDMall (Group) Limited. Based on objective positioning and value building, the initiative introduced a series of new ideas, concepts and practices, calling upon the TCM profession in the three places to stick to the strategy of building a "Healthy China" with the mission of "inherit and innovate, provide quality services, go worldwide and benefit our kinds", i.e. to strengthen the production of quality TCM products and services, establish effective regional coordination mechanism, and work together to transform the Greater Bay Area into a world-class TCM Bay Area. With such a bright development, a brand new phase for the innovation and integration is ought to come, nurturing a new bond for the "Belt and Road" and leading the formation of a healthy human community.

The Grand Opening Ceremony of TDMall's first flagship clinic has been successfully held in the same morning. TDMall is a new style TCM clinic tailor-made by Tianda Group and Tianda Chinese Medicine Limited for the Greater Bay Area residents, which is also a ground-breaking endeavor for the promotion of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area – TCM Bay Area", going to open the second and the third in Hong Kong and Macau respectively, aiming to expand throughout the country and later to the world.
